I feel like the kitchen can often get overlooked when we are decorating our homes! So today I’m sharing 11 simple kitchen decorating ideas.
These kitchen decor ideas will work for any size kitchen, even the small ones!
As you will see below, I have a very limited area in my own kitchen to decorate, and I can incorporate all 11 of these kitchen decorating ideas.
1. add artwork to your kitchen
Adding artwork is a great small kitchen decor idea!
You could hang a piece of artwork above your range, like above. (I use Command picture hanging strips.)
I’m not a big cook, and the pieces I select for above my range are affordable, so I don’t worry about them, but if you do, you could do a leaning piece that is easily moveable, like below.

2. a kitchen rug
I lived for several years in our home before adding a rug in our kitchen. And I have NO idea why!
They are so great for adding warmth both under-foot and aesthetically! Adding a rug is the perfect white kitchen decor idea!
I would recommend choosing a rug with a pattern, as it is better at hiding spills, stains, dirt, etc.
We have had our wool rug above (similar linked here) for probably close to 5 years and it still looks great!

3. display your wood or marble cutting boards
My Wood Cutting Boards are definitely a splurge. But, with that being said, I have had them for probably close to 6 years, and they are still my favorites! Great for entertaining, and completely worth the splurge for me.

4. add decorative canisters
And the award for the most affordable piece of small kitchen decor goes to these Glass Canisters!
By keeping your everyday items in canisters out on a countertop, it saves so much space in your cabinets! Bonus- they look pretty while doing so!

5. pretty soap dispensers
I love to add a set of pretty Soap & Lotion Dispensers next to a kitchen sink!
You are going to use soap, so you might as well have it be a piece of simple kitchen decor while you are at it!
p.s. the decorative bottle sets can be configured however you would like them!
6. more elevated everyday items
And by elevated everyday items, I’m talking an attractive Coffee Pot and/or Toaster, a pretty Dutch Oven or Olive Oil Bottle.

7. kitchen towels
Switching out your kitchen towels each season is such a simple kitchen decorating idea!

8. add flowers and/or greenery
I love decorating with flowers and stems all throughout my home, including my kitchen!
You could stack a few cookbooks and use a vase filled with flowers as a bookend.
Or use a Wood Riser to elevate a vase filled with faux greenery, like below.
9. utensil canister with wooden utensils
Why keep pretty Wooden Spoons tucked away in a drawer, when you can add them to a canister and have another simple kitchen decoration!

10. kitchen stools that add warmth and/or texture
This is something you can really have fun with, because there are so many great options out there!
There are pretty Rattan Stools, a stool with Leather Details, Upholstered Stools, or Wood Stools like we have.
11. and don’t forget the kitchen island
When decorating a kitchen island, think wood bowls filled with fruits & veggies, vase with fresh flowers or stems or a basket filled with linens.
