Who’s ready to decorate for Christmas?!? I am so ready. And if you are with me, this one is for you! I’m sharing Christmas decorating ideas for your home including my 2021 holiday design boards, sources & lots of Christmas inspo!
I’ll share all the design board sources under each board, so you can click on the bottom left of an image to be taken to the item.
my 2021 Christmas design boards:
Each year when planning my holiday decor, I like to create design boards for all of the spaces I plan to decorate. It allows me to see if items work together in each room, as well as the rooms as a whole.
Christmas decorating ideas for the home office:

I like to keep it fairly simple in most of my rooms for Christmas. For my office, I will replace my fall artwork with winter art prints. I find most of my art prints on Etsy, and have them printed at Mpix.com (giclee print on their fine art paper.)
This year I’m adding a Faux Tree to this room, which I’m super excited about. Our office has two large windows on the front of the house, which is just perfect for a Christmas tree, so this year I’m making it happen!
On my desk, I’ll keep it simple with a few Christmas touches- think displaying holiday family photos, a Christmas-scented candle, and maybe a few decorative trees.
I’m bringing in these affordable Target Pillows for my leather chairs, and I think it will be just enough “Christmas” for the space.
Christmas decorating ideas for the living room:

If you have a mantel in your living room, that’s a great place to start with your Christmas decor. It’s amazing what some faux greenery, lights and a few candles can do to bring holiday cheer to a space.
If you don’t have a mantel, I love to bring in Christmas through throw pillows, blankets, artwork and table decor like candles, faux or real evergreen stems, decorative trees, bells, etc.
And the star of our living room Christmas decor each year is our Christmas tree. I never do a themed tree, but instead collect new ornaments to add to my collection each year. My husband and I have been married for 21 years in January, and I still have ornaments I hung up from our very first Christmas together.
Do you have a theme tree, or keep the same ornaments each year? I would love to hear in the comments below!
Christmas decorating ideas for the kitchen:

We have a fairly small kitchen, so I have to be mindful of the amount of Christmas decor that is practical for the space. I keep it very simple by adding just a few pieces.
I love hanging an evergreen wreath, either from your range hood, or if that isn’t possible, hang it from a wood cutting board (that’s what I do each year.)
I also swap out my regular kitchen towels for Christmas towels, add a holiday-scented candle and artwork, and if I have room, a small faux or decorative countertop Christmas tree.
Christmas decorating ideas for the dining room:

I am so excited to do this room this year! I’m loving the cozy vibes of this design board. I’m adding a bunch of brass candleholders, a faux garland, and some berry colored pillows to my chairs, and that is about it. But look how festive it’s going to be! You really don’t have to go overboard on a space to make it feel festive. Candles and greenery really do go a long way!
Christmas decorating ideas for the bedroom:

I’m beginning to think I should have titled this post “simple Christmas decorating ideas,” because I keep coming back to the word simple! But that’s exactly what I’m doing in our guest bedroom this year. I’m adding winter artwork above the bed, adding some cute decorative Christmas objects, a candle, wood bowl filled with ornaments, and that is it. The bedding, pillows, rug, throw blanket are all items I already have. So bring in a winter art print, a faux tree and candle to make your guests feel extra special!

In our primary bedroom, I’m adding a faux garland to our bed, which I’m super excited about. I’m switching our art prints in here as well in favor of more winter-inspired ones. I’m keeping my bedding and throw pillows the same, but will bring in some Christmas decor pieces for our bedside tables. I’m super excited about this space, because it’s already feeling super cozy with our recent Bedroom Refresh, and this is going to take it up a notch.
I hope you all enjoyed my design boards for the year and got lots of inspo for your own home! As always, if you have questions, feel free to ask away in the comments below.
