Approachable but special.
Easy & elegant.
Layered with neutrals.
Simple with nature inspired materials.
This is how I’m describing my dining room this holiday season. And today I’m sharing how I created the simple but festive space in 6 easy steps!
You can find sources for everything linked at the bottom of the post!
Christmas dining room decor

I wanted the space to be mostly neutral with the greenery and candles as the star of the show.
I blended more formal items like my napkins and metallic tea light holders with more casual items like the slate placemats and the farmhouse table itself.

Christmas dining room decor
Here are the steps I took to achieve my simple but special Christmas dining room this year.
1. layer the centerpiece

I love the look of a table runner topped with a garland. (So much so that I kept it the same from last year’s table!

The runner adds warmth and coziness, and the greenery adds a layer of texture, which I love.
2. add gold (or other metallics)

I really like the juxtaposition of the more elegant gold with the more rustic reclaimed wood of the table.

I used Gold on my table this year, but I also love brass and copper for the holiday season as well!
3. pretty linens

Before I even knew what I was going to do for my table this year, I purchased these Pretty Napkins. I had decided on my holiday colors and found these on Amazon and knew they would be perfect!

Linens are such an easy way to add a bit of “special occasion” feel to the table.
4. candles

Candles, candles and more candles seems to be my theme this year for my entire house 🙂 and the dining table is no exception.
But really, candles are another super easy thing to add to your dining table. And they really do instantly elevate the entire look.

I found these LED Flameless Candles this fall and ordered a bunch of them. It is so nice to not have to worry about burning the house down and still get a pretty candlelight look 🙂 !
5. winter artwork

Add winter artwork to an empty dining room wall!
I normally have artwork on these walls, but I just switched them out for new winter art prints!
p.s. you can see the artwork better in the photos under #6 below.

You can find the artwork I used here & here.

6. pretty pillows in a special fabric

This year I used these affordable velvet-like pillow covers in black.

But no need to go neutral with your holiday pillows! I just loved the simplicity of the black this year.
I have also used their green velvet-like pillows in previous years!
