We all love a good basket, am I right?!? They are such a versatile piece of functional decor! They add texture, interest, warmth and most importantly, storage to our spaces!
We don’t have a big home, so we have to be smart about how we use each space, and baskets definitely help me with much needed additional storage. And they look pretty doing so.

So, today I’m sharing how I use baskets as functional decor throughout my home. I’m also giving you tips for decorating with baskets you can use in your own home!
p.s. all of the baskets are linked at the bottom of the post!
baskets in a main living area
I love to switch out the throw pillows I have on my couch, and since I don’t have a lot of room to store pillows not being used, baskets are the perfect solution!

They are also great for holding extra throw blankets, like below.

Place a smaller basket next to a chair to hold books and magazines, like below.

Baskets are a great solution for holding decorative and functional items on a coffee table. Great for corralling remotes, coasters & books.

If you have a console or sofa table with room for baskets, go for it! So much extra storage! And a bonus decor spot!

No room under a console table? How about beside it?

baskets in a bedroom
I love to use baskets in a bedroom in both big and small ways. Add a basket next to a dresser for extra linens.

Or for smaller things on a bedside table!

baskets in an office
I use baskets in my home office for everything from extra office supplies to my chargers and Air Pods.

It’s nice to have a place for everything, and the baskets serve as decor as well!

baskets in a mudroom
Use baskets in mudrooms for extra shoes, cold weather accessories, or for items that need to go out to the car.

baskets in an entryway
The basket in our current entryway is obviously for decor. But this same basket would be great filled with shoes, umbrellas or cold weather accessories.

Another great use of a basket in an entryway is to hang one on a hook! Great for items that need to be returned or just taken out to the car!

baskets in a laundry room

The baskets in our laundry room hold cleaning rags and our dryer balls. Bonus- they look pretty out on a shelf or countertop!
baskets in the dining room or kitchen
I love baskets in a dining room or kitchen for fruits and veggies, extra linens, napkin rings & dish towels!

baskets for kid’s spaces
My daughter has a really small room and a lot of stuffed animals. A lot. The basket shown below is the perfect solution. I also love them for storing books, crafting supplies, toys, etc.

Where I Love To Use Baskets
- Mudroom for shoes, hats, mittens & scarves
- Laundry room as a hamper
- Office for extra office supplies
- Dining room for extra kitchen linens
- Bedrooms for extra linens
- Kids spaces for toys, books & stuffed animals
- Entryway for shoes, umbrellas
- Living room for extra pillows and blankets
- Den for books & magazines
- Anywhere for indoor trees or faux plants
