This past weekend was 90 degrees and beautiful. We golfed and BBQed. It felt nowhere near the end of summer.
But I know it’s coming.
And in time I’ll reluctantly be ready.
And so will my home.
And that’s what I’m sharing today- 7 easy ways to transition your home from summer to fall, so you will be ready for it when the leaves start turning! Or sooner. I’m not here to judge 🙂 !
Bonus- I’m sharing over 50 pieces of decor perfect to transition your home from summer to fall. They are linked at the bottom of the post.
how to easily transition your home from summer to fall:

1. change out your greenery & flowers
I may not be ready for fall, but I’m already transitioning my flowers. During summer, I love to have fresh flowers in a few spots. I lean toward pretty pinks and whites. This last week when I was at my local Trader Joe’s I bought a bouquet in a more fall-like deep purple. So long bright pink flowers, hello deeper colors. Easy enough, right?
I also ordered a few of these Faux Golden Yellow Branches. Because what I know for sure is if I would have waited until the end of September, they would have been sold out. Fair warning! They will be so perfect in one of my oversized pots or vases.
Even better? Cut greenery from your own yard and place in one of your vases!
2. artwork
The second way I love to transition my home to fall is my changing out my art prints. I recently ordered this Rustic City print to go inside this Frame. A few other recent art purchases for transitioning my home to fall- I’m in love with this Lakeside print paired with this Hillside print.
This Pottery Barn frame is perfect for easily transitioning your artwork each season. It comes in several sizes & colors!
There are so many different ways to use artwork in your home! I have a post all about it here: How To Style Artwork In The Home
3. decor
You may automatically think pumpkins when you hear the words fall decor. That definitely doesn’t have to be the case! You will not see a pumpkin in my home at any point this year! I definitely lean more subtle.
So how in the world do you use decor to bring fall inside, you ask? Easy, I say. Incorporate vases, decorative objects, and coffee table books in deeper, more fall-like colors.
I recently ordered this Stoneware Vase, which will be so pretty on a console, kitchen or open shelving. It’s the definition of a fall color if you ask me.
This Target Rustic Vase is another great option. It also comes in a Taller Size. Pair them together, or style them separately.
This Coffee Table Book is the most perfect addition to your fall home! It is so pretty.
4. candles
I style candles throughout my home year-round, but I definitely change up the scents come fall.
This Etsy shop has amazing reviews! Amber & Driftwood sounds very fall-like.
5. throw blankets
I style throw blankets throughout my home year-round, but come fall, I transition to warmer colors as well as weight. I recently purchased this Studio McGee For Target Throw Blanket, and I can’t wait to pull it out when the weather changes. This Pottery Barn Handknit Throw is such a perfect addition to any home for fall. It comes in several colors.
6. lighting
I’m going to be honest, I rarely turn on my table and floor lamps in the summer months. There is just something so cozy about the soft light they put off, especially as the weather turns and it gets darker earlier. So add a floor lamp to a corner, a table lamp to a console table, and turn them on when the sun sets. Immediate coziness.
I’m loving this Target lamp for fall. It is a beautiful warm color, and I love the texture.
7. pillows
I saved the best for last, my friends. PILLOWS! I have a neutral home so I can change my look each season. Fall is definitely not an exception. Bringing this Green Pillow in this fall, and I’m so excited about it. I ordered a couple of these Target Plaid Pillows and love them. They have such a fun leather pull detail. Think warmer & deeper colors for your pillows for fall.
