I love decorating with baskets & bins! They are seriously one of my favorite pieces of decor to add to each of my spaces! And when you don’t have a large home (or even if you do,) they are essential! Today I’m sharing how to use baskets and bins as functional decor throughout your home.
1. baskets & bins in a laundry room

Baskets & bins are a must-have for a laundry room if you ask me! In the bins on the countertop, we keep all of our cleaning, dusting & mopping rags, while the round basket on the shelf holds our dryer balls & essential oils.
Storage, but make it pretty, am I right?
And don’t forget about pretty baskets for the obvious – dirty laundry!
Think about styling baskets on a countertop, next to a bench or table, open shelves, or even behind closed doors in a cabinet or under the sink.
Shop our laundry room shelves here.
2. in a mudroom

I love baskets in a mudroom for shoes, umbrellas & cold weather accessories!
Style them next to a bench (like above,) on a shelf, under a bench or on a countertop for things like keys, mail, sunglasses, etc.!

3. baskets in an entryway

I love to style baskets next to our entryway table. There are also tables with room under them for baskets, which I love as well.
And although we use our entryway basket for decorative purposes, you could use them for functional items like shoes!
I also love a functional basket for keys, sunglasses & mail on an entryway table if that is the door you use the most!
4. baskets in a bedroom

I like to store extra linens, blankets & pillows in bedroom baskets!
Style a bedroom basket next to a corner chair or beside a dresser, or style a smaller one on a nightstand.

A basket for corralling items your guests may need is always a good idea. Think magazines, books, extra blankets, remote controls, etc.
5. baskets & bins in a kitchen/dining room

Baskets on display in a kitchen or dining room are great places to store extra table linens, napkin ring holders & fruits & veggies.
Display them out on a table, countertop or open shelving!
6. baskets & bins in a home office

The desktop basket and bins on my desk hold everything I use on a daily basis. Think pens, paper, cords, I even store my laptop in there when I’m done working for the day!
Bonus- they look like decor but definitely serve a purpose!
Other places to style baskets in your office would be on a shelf, or next to a desk!
7. baskets in main living areas

Use baskets in your main living areas for everything from pillows & blankets to toys & crafts to magazines and books.

Style them next to a chair or sofa, on a fireplace hearth, on a coffee table, in a bookcase or under a console or sofa table!
Shop the corner of our den shown above here.

8. kids’ spaces

Baskets and bins are the perfect solution for storing all of the extra “things” that kids accumulate! Think of using them for toys, stuffed animals, crafts, books, extra bedding & even clothing.
Style baskets in kids’ spaces at the foot of the bed, next to a dresser, on a nightstand shelf, on a desk, open shelves, bookcase, or even hidden away in a closet! My daughter has 4 baskets filled with old keepsakes in her closet.
