Today I’m sharing my new work from home space plus some before & after photos!
But first, let me back up and give you some background on the why of this new work space.
We previously had a piano in this room. We loved the piano, but it had become unpractical. When we got the piano from my Grandmother, my daughter was a 2-year old, and I had high hopes we both would play it. I grew up playing the piano, and I had hoped to get back in to it.
Fast forward 10 years, and all it was doing was looking pretty and collecting dust. Neither of us were interested in playing it. Sadly.
And, the fact that I now work from home full-time was just making it worse. If our house were bigger, it would have likely been a non-issue, because I could have found a different space for a desk. I have been working from the couch, island, and most recently a portable desk, but I was really needing a dedicated work space, and there just wasn’t another solution. So, the piano now lives with a family we know, and I now have my long-time dream of a dedicated office space finally realized!

The new Wood Desk is obviously the star of the show! I am so happy with this purchase, you guys. It fits perfectly in my space, works so well with my Leather Chairs, and is affordable!
I’m loving the Desk Chair as well. It is the same color as our Living Room Sectional (oatmeal,) and is super comfortable. Plus, it coordinates with the rug, desk & leather chairs so well!
You can see the before version of the space here:

the artwork
When we got rid of the piano, I took down all of the artwork, patched holes, and actually re-painted this entire wall. I knew if I didn’t, the paint touchup would have been obvious. We have lived here 7 years, and I knew it wouldn’t have been an exact match. I then figured out the new placement of the same artwork, and we hung the same pieces back up. (All of the artwork is from BFF Print Shop.)

Below, a view of the new office space from my kitchen area. I’m loving the new look. Not only is it a practical space, but it looks pretty too!

The photo below isn’t taken from the exact spot, but gives you an idea of how it used to look.

desktop accessories

I didn’t buy anything new for the desk, but instead used what I already had. My Lulu & Georgia Lamp is perfect for this space. (I’ll link the rest of the accessories at the bottom.)

The best part? The kitty loves the new desk 😉

If you are curious about the rest of the room, it remained the same! Opposite the new desk is our IKEA Billy Bookcase Wall Of Built-ins, and the Pottery Barn leather chairs stayed as well!
