Looking for a neutral rug? You have come to the right place!
I’m sharing 9 of the best living room options, two of which I have in my own home!
If you ask me, neutral rugs are the way to go! They make up almost every rug I have in my home, and I choose to have it this way for several reasons.
First, I love how a neutral rug offers endless possibilities for creating a foundation for a room.
They allow us to add color and trends in different, more affordable ways.

Neutral rugs are helpful in allowing us to easily transition our decor season-to-season without changing anything major.
For example, my neutral rug allows me to decorate for Christmas, fall, spring, and summer without changing the foundation of the space.
I switch out my living room pillows, artwork, and other pieces of decor fairly regularly, and because I have a neutral living room rug, it makes it so much easier to do so!

I love the warm neutrals of the color shown above, but it does come in a couple of other neutral options as well.
The Nicolette comes in 10 different sizes up to 12×18′!
It is a low-pile rug that works perfectly underneath furniture and will not obstruct doorways.

I am obsessed with the Oaklynn rug! I love the patterned border, and how it looks antique!
Also, it has yarn-dyed wool meaning it is soft and will hold its vibrancy over time!
The Pembroke rug is another rug I have loved for years.
It has such a classic look that would go with a lot of different design aesthetics.
This rug has cooler shades of neutral as opposed to the warmer neutrals that make up most of this list. So if you are drawn to cooler shades, this is a great option!
I love the more modern look of the Polly rug compared to the rest of the rugs on this list.
It is made up of a combination of wool and jute but at a more affordable option than others on the list!
I love the pop of pattern it will add to a living room!
By the way, I have several Loloi rugs in my home and love each one of them.
Their rugs are always on-trend and are at a great price point.
And last, but definitely not least, the Taos rug
This is a beautiful neutral rug that reminds me a lot of our living room rug, number 1 above.
I love the darker flecks throughout the rug, and because it is made of wool and cotton, I know it will give a cozy feel to any space.
The Taos rug comes in 5 sizes and 3 colors!
If I am placing a rug on a solid surface, I almost always use a rug pad. This is the rug pad I have had under my living room rug for over 6 years.
Studio McGee has a great rug guide that will help you with sizing questions. You can find it here.
If a splurge is in your budget, I say 100% yes! As I mentioned at the start of the blog post, we have had our living room rug for over 6 years at this point. At the time we bought it, I would have considered it a splurge for sure. I have probably had over 10 rugs in the rest of my home come and go, while the splurge is still there. I definitely think there is a place for both splurge and saving when purchasing rugs, but buying a splurge for me will always be worth it.
