No Fail Items For Styling A Console Table

August 24, 2021 Home Decor

What if I told you that decorating your console table doesn’t have to be overwhelming? What if I told you that most of the time I use the same 8 types of items when decorating mine? Yep, that’s right. It can be simple. 8 no fail items for styling a console table coming at you!

Last week I shared my No Fail Objects For Styling A Coffee Table, and this week it is the console table’s turn.

There are so many different ways to style a console table. But, I seem to always grab the same type of items no matter the look I’m going for, and today that’s what I’m sharing!

Bonus- I’m linking over 80 pieces of my favorite console table decor at the bottom of the post!

items I love to use when styling my console tables:

First, let’s talk the console tables themselves. I have had this World Market Console Table for close to 5 years, and I still LOVE it.

I have equal amounts of love for my newer Target Console Table, shown below!

Here are a few more I’m loving too:

1. artwork & mirrors:

Above the console table, I like to hang a large piece of art, or a mirror. In my entryway, shown in the first photo, I chose artwork, because I wanted the artwork to set the tone for my home. The colors found in the artwork can be found throughout my home.

If I’m hanging a mirror, I love to lean artwork against the wall, like the above photo.

2. baskets, stools & ottomans

To balance out the top, I always place baskets or stools/ottomans below the console table. Baskets are great for holding everything from shoes to pretty throw blankets. And having ottomans or stools below gives you extra seating and somewhere for your guests to sit to remove shoes!

3. pots & vases:

I always use at least one pot or vase when I’m styling my console tables. If I’m not using a table lamp, I like to use an oversized pot to add height to the vignette, like above.

4. greenery & flowers

In the summer, I almost always have fresh flowers in my vases or pots on one of my console tables. The rest of the year, I am faux greenery all of the time. There are so many great faux stems and plants out there, which makes it so much easier to go faux.

5. table lamps

I love styling my console tables with a pretty table lamp! I love the warm glow they give off in the evening hours, and it just adds to the welcoming feel of your space. Plus, it adds height, which I love.

6. coffee table books

Coffee table books are another one of my go-to items when styling my console tables. I love to stack a few of them, and place a decorative object or small plant on top.

7. bowls, trays & boxes

Bowls, trays & boxes are such great items to add when styling a console table. They can be practical and filled with sunglasses, keys, masks, etc., or they can be purely for aesthetics filled with decorative objects or left empty.

8. decorative objects

And last but definitely not least, decorative objects. These are items such as candles, beads, wood or metal objects, etc. Like I mentioned above, I love to place these on top of a stack of books, or inside a shallow bowl. They are the finishing touch when I’m styling my tables.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, leave them below!
